Cikgu Juairiah --- SMK Bandar Sunway

Remember Cikgu Juairiah Johari? Last year, I did blog on Cikgu J HERE.
A few days ago, NST gave special coverage to Cikgu Juairiah / her dedicated group of teachers and SMK Bandar Sunway's special children. Read below.

.
(sorry, i don't think it is good to say - dedicated teachers. totally redundant expression. all teachers are actually dedicated to their profession. their whole life is dedicated to educate others)

The chefs' repertoire also includes chicken curry, potato bread, muffins, biscuits, mee goreng, nasi goreng, pasta, cupcakes, apple crumble, rendang ayam, chicken pies and cookies that even the Cookie Monster would approve of.

And, these are not chefs of a swanky restaurant. Rather, they are a group of special children at a special government school.

At SMK Bandar Sunway, students with learning and other disabilities are not turned away but welcomed with open arms and given the opportunity to pick up life skills.

Hapsah Safian, headmistress of the school, said: "There are 72 children with Down's Syndrome, autism and other disabilities at the school."

Hapsah said the school had 14 teachers trained to work with such children, led by senior assistant, Juairiah Johari. The school also has regular students who follow the standard curriculum.

Juairiah played a large role in starting and improving the programme for the special children.

Congrats Cikgu J! So happy to read this in NST, Cikgu J memang buat yang terbaik untuk kanak-kanak istimewa tu.. My friend and i did suggest Cikgu J to establish Yayasan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa (or whatever name...) to help/look after them after they leave school. Perhaps, Cikgu J & team may consider the idea/proposal.
