The singer has released two conflicting statements regarding the payout, sparking confusion over how much the 'RocknRolla' director will receive in total.
The first statement from Madonna's spokesperson Liz Rosenberg, released on Monday (15.12.08), stated Guy would receive between £50 and £60 million in cash and property.
But in a following email to the BBC, Madonna's team claimed Guy would get $60-70 million - which converts to between £39 and £46 million.

Bertemu Sheikh Muszaphar
MENERUSI satu temujanji yang diaturkan, saya berkesempatan bertemu dengan Angkasawan Negara, Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor di sebuah hotel terkemuka di ibu kota pada 26 November lepas.
Ketika itu Sheikh baru tiba dari KLIA. Katanya beliau ke Bintulu untuk menyampaikan ceramah di beberapa buah sekolah di sana.
Pertemuan diatur berikutan wujud beberapa dakwaan pihak tertentu terhadap beliau sebagaimana yang dilaporkan media. Apa pun kita menunggu hasil siasatan yang sedang dijalankan oleh Kementerian Sains, Teknologi dan Innovasi (Mosti).
Dalam pertemuan yang berlangsung selama dua jam itu, kami tidak diganggu sesiapa. Tiada pengawal, tiada pengiring.

Madoff's massive dupe

MADRID: Two months after being hammered by the collapse of global investment bank Lehman Brothers, banks and investment funds in Europe are trembling in the face of the massive fraud allegedly perpetrated by New York broker Bernard Madoff.
Private European banks and investors specialised in the placement of high-risk hedge funds could have exposure of up to several billion dollars in the scandal.
Madoff was arrested last Thursday for allegedly defrauding his customers through a giant pyramid scheme, with prosecutors alleging that the 70-year-old, a decades-long veteran of Wall Street, confessed to losing at least US50 billion (RM178.7 billion) in the so-called Ponzi scheme.

Abdullah Expresses Surprise Over Muhyiddin's Statement On Transition Plan

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today expressed surprise over a statement by Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that his transition plan to step down in June 2010 was too long. Abdullah, who is also Umno president, said the Cabinet understood and agreed with the transition plan and the Umno Supreme Council had also agreed to it."I'm surprised that a member of my Cabinet should come up with that kind of statement. It is against what has been agreed to," he told reporters after chairing the 20th MSC Malaysia Implementation Council Meeting at his office here. Abdullah was asked to comment on the statement yesterday in Singapore by Muhyiddin, who is also International Trade and Industry Minister, that the transition plan had "sunk away" and that people were not thinking about it anymore. Abdullah also said he was surprised that Muhyiddin came up with such an opinion as he had agreed to that (transition plan) before. Under the plan for transition of power, Abdullah is to hand over the post of prime minister, the chairmanship of the Barisan Nasional (BN) and the presidency of Umno to his deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in June 2010.Abdullah said: "I'm not staying on just for the pleasure. I tell you this is not work that I can regard as pleasure."The prime minister said there were many political matters and problems that had to be attended to and "lots of programmes that I have already indicated that I must do my best to complete".Abdullah said these included the reform of the judiciary and the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA)."And I still have the IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission); a matter to look into, the last part of the police reform. At the same time, I have promised that we would like to achieve eradication of hardcore poverty."I would like to work very hard on it and, at the same time, there is a lot of work that needs to be done, to reform the Barisan Nasional (BN) and also to add more, to expand the (BN's) capacity to serve the people," he said.Abdullah said that as for Umno, there was also a lot to be done, as well as to help his deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to achieve the objectives of the stated programmes.Asked whether he would ask Muhyiddin to explain why he had come out with such a statement, Abdullah said: "There is no need to ask me what I'm going to do."On former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's decision to rejoin Umno, he said the subject was not discussed (at yesterday's meeting of the Umno Supreme Council)."My view alone is not enough ... this is a matter for the party. btw, it seems TSM prefers to make statements "garang bangat" during his visits to Singapore...tactically or technically planned..? (dont say misquote & misinterpret, k)

TS Muhyiddin - so now, apa mau bikin?

After yesterday's "obey your master" briefing, the one-and-only PM-in-waiting from Muar now feels the heat. Trouble. Why?

(1) i already stated (indirectly) my intention to go for No. 2 (& No. 1?).

(2) if i were to stay here and to play safe, then somebody else will challenge and kick me out i.e Melaka, Selangor, Perlis, NS & NS.

(3) i've made several announcements (so-called for and on behalf of grassroots) on the important to have fast and smooth transition. grassroots movement seems positive but not so sure of their support. No. 1 and No. 2 knew i'm vying for that post, they will certainly activate Plan A, Plan B and Plan C, anytime now....

.

So, YB Muhyiddin -- only the top two posts to survive. not top three, what more to YB Ku Li. 2 years to go anything can happen, YB.... the ball is now rolling & rolling, time can't wait. Go revisit Malay proverb - alang-alang seluk pekasam, biaq pi sampai ke pangkal lengan. And, do make sure your hand is long enough, so that you can feel and touch the bottom of the pekasam...! (Jangan lupa tutup hidung, pekasam busuk wooo..)

Benarkah PM kurang CERDIK (masa) naikkan harga PETROL?

Kawan tak mau ulas kenaikan harga minyak ini dari sudut politik. (1) kawan tak mahir sangat (read: malas..) (2) dah banyak sangat orang politik ulas. YB Dato' Mukhriz yang kawan tujukan lagu khas untuknya dulu, pun dah ulas tidak bijaknya PM. Itu orang dalam UMNO. Dalam keadaan orang UMNO/BN dan semua pengundi-pengundinya pun dah mengamuk, apalagi yang non-UMNO dan non-BN.

Dari sudut politik kawan yang dangkal ini, poin kawan cuma ada 2 je. (a) Pak Lah ingin alih sarang tebuan dari Pulau Batu Puteh (dan juga isu parti/kepimpinan) ke stesen minyak... kita kan mudah lupa.. dan (b) Strategi 78 sen ini adalah strategi makan orang - samada strategi ini akan makan tuan @ makan tuan-tuan; mahupun strategi peluru penabur -- alang-alang tersungkur, biar semua terlungkup...

Kawan juga tak mau ulas kenaikan harga ini dari sudut ekonomi. (1) kawan tak mahir sangat (read: malas...) (2) dah banyak sangat orang ekonomi ulas.

Poin saya cuma 2 je. (a) Janganlah ikut sangat teori ekonomi. Dan, janganlah suka sangat teori cuba-try-test terutama bab-bab membabitkan negara dan kehidupan rakyat keseluruhannya. Buat polisi jangan gopoh-gapah. Perhalusi. Kesan/Implikasi yang baik menyeluruh mesti untuk RAKYAT.

(b) Naikkan harga minyak bukanlah jalan penyelesaian, bahkan menzahirkan lagi banyak masalah dan kenaikkan harga seluruhnya. Kesan domino dan cause-effect kenaikan harga minyak sangatlah memberi kesan pada kesemua harga barang yang ada -- elektrik, barang makan, tambang bas, feri, bot nelayan, barang berasakan petroleum, baja, racun, roti canai, apam balik, nasi baryani, harga bayaran mengaji, tuisyen, harga lembu, harga burger & tempe, kira semualah yang ada atas tanah ni termasuk harga sagu. Implikasi naik harga minyak sangatlah tinggi dan menyeluruh. Semua terpalit dalam kesan langsung dan tak langsung hatta harga potong rambut dan potong rumput sekalipun!

Bayangkanlah, orang yang tak de kena mengena dengan petrol -- orang yang tak de motor - tak de kereta -- pun terpalit sama disebabkan harga barang-barang lain naik (lebih tinggi % nya) daripada carta graf petrol. Tengok apa jadi sekarang -- semua harga naik melambong, yang ada (harga) siling, semua berlobang/tercabut siling...nak pantau la, peniaga tak de semangat patriotik la naikkan harga (ni apa punya statement ni...) Rebet rebet ni cerita lain la.. (bunyi pun macam baru nak finalise je...)

Kesimpulan di sini, menaikkan 10 sen harga petrol bukanlah semudah menaikkan 10 sen harga buah rambutan... apalagi menaikkan hingga 70 sen - 80 sen -- kesannya besar dan cukup menghampakan seluruh pelusuk.

Kalau ye pun nak buat 5 Koridor, jangan sampai pijak rakyat. Kalu tak cukup duit nak buat koridor, tangguhkan dulu atau hentikan terus -- mungkin masa tak sesuai. Sedangkan itu jambatan bengkok -- (yang dulu masa TDM jadi PM, Pak Lah & Menteri Shahrir support habis...) & double tracking project, pun boleh dibungkus sekelip mata, apalah sangat Koridor-Koridor tu yang belum mula apa pun...

Bab yang kawan cuma nak ulas ialah di mana hati, akal dan perasaan (rasional kepada rakyat) serta sikap cakap tak serupa bikin PM, TPM dan Menteri, kerajaan dan pembuat polisi ketika naikkan harga minyak ini.

a. Menteri Shahrir kata harga minyak dengan mekanisme baru pada bulan Ogos.

(Seperti posting kawan terdahulu, naikkan harga minyak 5 Jun (3 bulan dari election) sangat tidak sesuai (apalagi menaikkan hingga 78 sen). Lainlah kalau turun harga, orang tak kisah - hari ini menang, esok turun harga. Sangat dialu-alukan.

b. TPM Najib kata jangan percaya rumor, minyak takkan naik!

Muka ada, tapi buat-buat selamba... jangan macam tu. Nak main politik, nak survive, buatlah... dah itu agenda utama. tapi bab "mempermainkan akal dan emosi rakyat" -- jangan dibuat main-main... Kenapa tergamak buat kenyataan yang berdolak-dalik macam tu..

So now camana? nak caya rumor ke atau nak caya cakap Menteri?

c. Baru je larang orang asing beli minyak, tengok2 baru dua tiga hari tarik balik -- tak ke kelakar polisi "kerajaan" yang boleh bertukar dalam sehari dua!

d. Menteri Shahrir kata kerajaan nak kekalkan harga petrol RM2.70/liter ni hingga Mac 2009. Boleh caya ke? Baru beberapa hari kata petrol kan dinaikkan bulan Ogos, alih-alih dah naik esok... apa punya Menteri cakap macam tu...semua ada dalam satu meeting, tapi statement bercanggah! Yang sorang kata minyak naik 40sen je.. Takkanlah tak bincang bila nak announce, bila efektif tarikh, berapa nak naik...(letih).

Kawan simpati kepada mereka yang mengundi BN hari tu, nampak sangat "diperbodohkan" (sekali lagi, kawan tidak cerita bab politik dalam hal ini - kita cerita bab akal/perasaan/emosi rakyat). Maka nampaknya tuan/puan/kita semua kenalah mulakan langkah berjimat, kalau boleh naik basikal/jalan kaki -- mulakan. gunakan motor @ kereta CC kecik. pandu kereta jangan laju, bawah 100km/jam, gunakan pengangkutan awam, tukar gaya hidup, balik kampung bila raya dan ada orang mati je (itupun yang rapat-rapat je), bawa mangkuk tepen (si'ah) isi nasi/lauk pi opis, tanam padi kat tepi rumah, ternak kambing/ayam kat belakang rumah, bikin kanvas ikan keli kat depan rumah, ternak cacing kat atas siling rumah(boleh lah tokok2 pendapatan sikit...).

Mulai hari ini, kawan add link blog Menteri Shahrir dengan harapan Menteri (dan PM/TPM) prihatin perasaan rakyat, tolong cakap serupa bikin dan jangan ikut sedap mulut sangat. Dan, (Menteri) jangan buat malu orang Johor! Kawan mengadap muka Menteri Shahrir masa bercakap kat TV beberapa hari lepas. Maka, bila bercakap tu tolonglah ada feel simpati/belas -- kalau tak di hati, buat-buat lah sikit di muka -- jadi lah....

Kawan memang sedih dengan kenaikan dadak minyak ini, tapi sedih dan simpati kawan lebih kepada orangramai keseluruhannya yang lebih kekurangan dalam hidup mereka berbanding kawan sekeluarga.

Semoga pembaca blog ini pun ada belas/simpati yang sama -- kalau tak banyak, ada setitis pun jadilah....

It's not my letter, says Dr Mahathir

KUALA LUMPUR: Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad hopes that one day his correspondence with two former Israeli prime ministers will be declassified.
"I am saying this because currently, there is a fake letter circulating around. The letter claims to have been written by me but is actually an attempt to damage my reputation," he said after attending an autograph session for his book, Dr. Mahathir's Selected Letters to World Leaders, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre yesterday.The letter, dated Aug 16, 1999, carrying a government letterhead and Dr Mahathir's signature, was addressed to Ehud Barak, then prime minister of Israel, congratulating him on his appointment.According to the letter, Dr Mahathir asked for Barak's help in accessing the "Clinton Fund" for "the purpose of withstanding the onslaught of Islamic Fundamentalists in Malaysia" and raising funds for Umno in preparation for the 1999 general election.Dr Mahathir denied he wrote the letter.
"My book contains 71 letters, but while in office, I have written more than 200 letters to various international personalities. Unfortunately most of them are still under the Official Secrets Act, including my letters to Benjamin Netanyahu and Ehud Barak."If the original letters were published, you would know that the letter being circulated now is a fake," Dr Mahathir said.
