Zahar sah sertai PAS
Oleh ZANARIAH ABD. MUTALIB
Terperinci klik tajuk. Baca juga SINI & profil Datuk Zahar di SINI.

Irish probe: Air Canada co-pilot had mental breakdown, flight attendant stepped in
By SHAWN POGATCHNIK , Associated Press
Last update: November 19, 2008 - 3:22 PM
DUBLIN, Ireland - An Air Canada co-pilot having a mental breakdown had to be forcibly removed from the cockpit, restrained and sedated, and a stewardess with flying experience helped the pilot safely make an emergency landing, an Irish investigation concluded Wednesday.
The report by the Irish Air Accident Investigation Unit into an incident in January applauded the decision-making of the pilot and the cockpit skills of the flight attendant, who stepped into the co-pilot's seat for the emergency diversion to Shannon Airport in western Ireland.
None of the 146 passengers or other nine crew members on board the Boeing 767 bound from Toronto to London was injured after the 58-year-old co-pilot had to be removed by attendants and sedated by two doctors on board. It said the co-pilot was a licensed veteran with more than 6,500 hours' flying time, about half on board Boeing 767s, and had recently passed a medical examination.
But it said the pilot noticed immediately that his co-pilot was not in good professional shape on the day of the flight, arriving late to the cockpit after all the safety checks and paperwork had been completed. He reported that the co-pilot's behavior worsened once they were airborne, and the co-pilot advised him to take a lengthy break for naps and a meal.
As the aircraft reached the middle of the Atlantic, the report said, the co-pilot began talking in a "rambling and disjointed" manner, took another nap, and then refused to buckle his seat belt or observe other safety procedures when he returned to the cockpit.
The pilot concluded that his colleague was now so "belligerent and uncooperative" that he couldn't do his job.Read here and here >> Air hostess helps land Air Canada plane after co-pilot breaks down

---3---Fiqh 2.54: An imam may change his place and become a follower
If the regular imam or appointed imam is not present, it is permissible to appoint someone else to perform the duty of imam. If the regular imam appears during the prayers, the substitute imam may move back to the rows and allow the regular imam to take over. Al-Bukhari and Muslim record that Sahl ibn Sa'd said: "The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alehi wasallam went off to take care of the affairs of the tribe of 'Amr ibn 'Auf. The time for salah came and the mu'azhzhin went to Abu Bakr and said: 'Will you lead the people in salah and I shall make the iqamah?' Abu Bakr agreed. [While he was] leading the prayer, the Messenger of Allah appeared and joined the rows. The people clapped [their thighs with their hands] but Abu Bakr would not turn around during the prayer. When most of the people began clapping, he turned and saw the Prophet...[who] pointed to Abu Bakr to stay in his place. Abu Bakr raised his hands and praised Allah because of what the Prophet had told him. Then, Abu Bakr moved back until he joined the rows and the Prophet stepped forward [to lead]. After he had prayed, he went to Abu Bakr and said: O Abu Bakr, what prevented you from staying there when I told you to do so?' Abu Bakr said: 'It is not fit for the son of Abu Quhafah to lead the Prophet in prayer.' Then the Messenger of Allah said: 'Why did I see most of you clapping? If you find something in the prayer you should say subhanallah, for when you say it, it will attract his (i.e. imam's) attention and clapping [thighs with hands] is for the women.'"Fiqh 2.62: Appointing another to lead the rest of the salah
If the imam must leave during the salah due to some reason, for instance, he remembers that he is in need of making ablution or he loses his ablution during the salah, then he should appoint another to lead the remainder of the prayer.
'Amr ibn Maimun says: "I was standing and there was no one between me and 'Umar, the morning he was killed, except 'Abullah ibn 'Abbas. He had barely pronounced the takbir when he was stabbed and he said: 'The dog has bitten or killed me.' 'Umar bade 'Abdur Rahman ibn 'Auf to lead the salah and he led them in a short prayer." This is related by al-Bukhari.
Abu Razin reports: "'Ali was praying one day when his nose began to bleed. He took a man by the hand and put him in front of the congregation, and he left." This is related by Sa'id ibn Mansur.
Ahmad observes: "If the imam appoints another [it is acceptable] as 'Umar and 'Ali appointed another. If the people pray individually, [it is acceptable] as in the case of Mu'awiyyah when he was stabbed and the people prayed individually and completed their prayers."Fiqh 2.62 a: When the people dislike their imam
Many hadith have been related which warn against leading a congregation while one is disliked by them. Dislike here relates to one's religious conduct and is based on a valid reason.
Ibn 'Abbas relates that the Prophet said: "Three people's prayers will not rise above their head the length of a hand's span. [They are:] a man who leads a people in salah and they do not like him, a woman who has disobeyed her husband and he is dipleased with her, and two brothers who are estranged." This is related by Ibn Majah. Al-'lraqi says its chain is hasan.
'Abdullah ibn 'Amr relates that the Prophet sallallahu alehi wasallam said: "Allah does not accept prayers from three [types of] people: a man who leads a people and they dislike him, a man who attends the prayers after their time is finished, and a man who re-enslaves his freed slave." This is related by Abu Dawud and Ibn Majah.
Elaborating upon it, at-Tirmizhi says: "It is disliked that a man should lead a people in salah while they dislike him. If the imam is not a wrongdoer, then the sin is upon those who don't like him."Details read here

Wanita Umno chief comes out with guns blazing
By SHAHANAAZ HABIB
KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Rafidah Aziz fired her first salvo a day after her deputy Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil announced her intention to challenge her in the coming party polls.
Stating that she would defend the wing’s top post, Rafidah poured scorn on Shahrizat for breaking her earlier promise that she would not challenge her.
“She even said, ‘My word is my honour’, which was published in the media. She said she would abide by the advice of the party’s top leaders and that she accepted the (June) transition plan,” said the long-serving Wanita chief.

PM to Quit in March 2009
Agence France-Presse - 10/8/2008 10:56 AM GMT
Malaysian PM to quit next March
Malaysia's Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said Wednesday he will step down next March and hand power to his deputy, ending months of uncertainty since disastrous general elections.
Abdullah has been under intense pressure to quit since leading the Barisan Nasional coalition to its worst polls performance in half a century, losing a third of parliamentary seats and five states to the opposition.
The premier said he expected his United Malays National Organisation (UMNO), which leads the multi-racial coalition, to select Deputy Prime Minister Najib Razak for the top job in a leadership vote next March.
"I will hand over power to... Najib after he wins the election at the general assembly. I am sure he will win," Abdullah told a press conference, calling on the party to halt months of destructive bickering.
"It is not the time for us to indulge in infighting or engage in narrow politics, it is now time for us to strengthen our unity and co-operate among ourselves and place the interests of the country above all."
The president of UMNO -- which has dominated Malaysian politics since independence from Britain in 1957 -- by tradition automatically becomes prime minister of the country.
Abdullah, 68, originally wanted to hand over to Najib in mid-2010 but was forced to review his departure date as he lost support from the ruling party's grassroots, which was stunned by the March election results.
He also faced a challenge from opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim, who says he has enough support from defecting lawmakers to topple the government, but is being blocked from forming a new administration.
Abdullah came to power in 2003 and was initially buoyed by a groundswell of support for his promises of reform after two decades of hardline rule under veteran premier Mahathir Mohamad.
However, he was quickly seen as weak and ineffective after failing to tackle corruption, high crime rates and inefficient bureaucracy which he had vowed to address.
Abdullah insisted Wednesday he still intended to fulfil his promises, and pledged to give more power to the anti-corruption body and create a new commission to appoint judges who are currently picked by the premier.
The political vacuum since the elections has paralysed foreign investment and suppressed trade on the stock exchange, in a malaise which is now being worsened by the global economic crisis.
UMNO vice-president Mohamad Ali Rustam, a possible contender for the newly vacated deputy premier's post, said the announcement would revitalise the party which has been in disarray since the elections.
"This will unite UMNO and Barisan Nasional so that we can win the next election. I hope all UMNO members will support Najib," he said. "Najib has to regain public confidence for the Barisan Nasional."
UMNO represents the interests of the country's Muslim Malay majority, and its coalition partners representing ethnic Chinese and Indians were wiped out in the elections which saw minorities flock to Anwar's opposition.
"Barisan Nasional's challenge is to see how it can concretely carry out reforms. BN needs rebranding. It has to change its attitude and approach," said Koh Tsu Koon, chief of the Chinese-based Gerakan party.
"The next general elections is not going to be easy unless we really, really reform," he added.
Political observers said Najib faced a massive task to revitalise the government which is seen as out of touch and riddled with corruption and cronyism.
"He certainly will want to portray himself as a reformer, he will need to do that in order to survive, but voter patience is a lot thinner now than a few years ago," said Ibrahim Suffian from the Merdeka Centre research firm.
"With the advent of a new leader they might salvage some sort of hope and credibility," he said.

Abdullah Expresses Surprise Over Muhyiddin's Statement On Transition Plan
PUTRAJAYA, Sept 11 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi today expressed surprise over a statement by Umno vice-president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that his transition plan to step down in June 2010 was too long. Abdullah, who is also Umno president, said the Cabinet understood and agreed with the transition plan and the Umno Supreme Council had also agreed to it."I'm surprised that a member of my Cabinet should come up with that kind of statement. It is against what has been agreed to," he told reporters after chairing the 20th MSC Malaysia Implementation Council Meeting at his office here. Abdullah was asked to comment on the statement yesterday in Singapore by Muhyiddin, who is also International Trade and Industry Minister, that the transition plan had "sunk away" and that people were not thinking about it anymore. Abdullah also said he was surprised that Muhyiddin came up with such an opinion as he had agreed to that (transition plan) before. Under the plan for transition of power, Abdullah is to hand over the post of prime minister, the chairmanship of the Barisan Nasional (BN) and the presidency of Umno to his deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, in June 2010.Abdullah said: "I'm not staying on just for the pleasure. I tell you this is not work that I can regard as pleasure."The prime minister said there were many political matters and problems that had to be attended to and "lots of programmes that I have already indicated that I must do my best to complete".Abdullah said these included the reform of the judiciary and the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACA)."And I still have the IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission); a matter to look into, the last part of the police reform. At the same time, I have promised that we would like to achieve eradication of hardcore poverty."I would like to work very hard on it and, at the same time, there is a lot of work that needs to be done, to reform the Barisan Nasional (BN) and also to add more, to expand the (BN's) capacity to serve the people," he said.Abdullah said that as for Umno, there was also a lot to be done, as well as to help his deputy, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, to achieve the objectives of the stated programmes.Asked whether he would ask Muhyiddin to explain why he had come out with such a statement, Abdullah said: "There is no need to ask me what I'm going to do."On former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's decision to rejoin Umno, he said the subject was not discussed (at yesterday's meeting of the Umno Supreme Council)."My view alone is not enough ... this is a matter for the party. I cannot make a stand on this," he said. Dr Mahathir resigned from Umno on May 19.-- BERNAMA

TAHNIAH DSAI & KEMPEN BN SUDAH BASI
pic from DSAI's blog
I read DSAI's AR. In this book published in 1996, DSAI wrote:
"i grew up in a time of great social transformation wherein the interplay of ideas and events coincided with the rise of student activism, religious revivalism and political turmoil. Not content to be a mere bystander, i chose to be an active participant instead.............................i emerged.............................i have no regrets......"

Ramai pemimpin (pro/anti) bagi pendapat dengan kemenangan DSAI ini. Tapi kawan suka pulok dengar komen YB Muhyiddin - meh tengok.
Don't View Anwar's Victory Lightly, Says Muhyiddin
SINGAPORE, Aug 27 (Bernama) -- Barisan Nasional (BN) should not take lightly the victory of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in the Permatang Pauh parliamentary by-election, said Umno Vice-President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.Muhyiddin said he was concerned that the voters' decision to give victory to the opposition would become a trend."Although it was just a by-election, it could be an indication of a trend that the voters had already decided that they wanted change even if they didn't know what the changes were, and refused to accept BN's leadership," he told Malaysian journalists here.Muhyiddin, who is International Trade and Industry Minister, was here to attend the Asean Economic Ministers Meeting. He said BN and Umno should conduct a post-mortem and take steps to speed up Umno's reinventing process as well as measures to rebrand the BN with new approach more acceptable to the people.According to him, this would require the BN and Umno to re-evaluate whether their approach to campaign was already "stale and no longer acceptable to the people."
Anwar, 61, memperolehi 31,195 undi sementara calon BN, Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah, 51, mendapat 15,524 undi manakala calon Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malaysia (AKIM) Hanafi Mamat, 61, hilang wang pertaruhan selepas mendapat hanya 92 undi. Sebanyak 447 undi rosak. – Bernama
.

Ha ha sorry friend, I won’t cover so much politics here in this blog. (1) I don’t have solid substance of the story and (2) will try to avoid repetitions from one to another. But, I do believe there are so many bloggers picked up this “Tun quits UMNO” story and blogged it. Please visit my "political" links/blogs kat sebelah kanan tu...
But, not to disappoint you my friend, I would like to express this “big event” thru poem. This “sajak” will cover all!. Hope you like it.
Sedih kian teresak
Hajat semakin parah
Letih terus mendesak
Tombak telah melayang
Keris mulai menikam
Melawan segala arah
Peluh berdarah melimpah ruah
Langkah longlai tetapi terus melangkah
Gagah walaupun pasrah
Halangan tidak bertepi kerana ini bukan mimpi
Jiwa tersemat semangat besi
Hati mulai dicuci
Tiada tinggal segala karat
Tiada tinggal segala benci dan dengki
Hidup menumpang di jiwa
Berpusakakan saka
Saka seketurunan dari nenek moyang
Jatuh ke empunya badan
Tidak terlarat, menanggung berat dan beban
Menghimpit mencengkam
Dan terpancut keluarlah saka dari badan
Menggelepar dan menggeletar!
